Greeting Everyone,
Our fall Southern Assoc. Meeting will be at the Community Church of Poway on November 9, 2008. The church address is 13501 Community Road, Poway CA 92064 Our program topic will be Interactive Prayer Practice in Worship. In Dan Kimball’s book, “They Like Jesus, but not the Church”, he states “people are looking for a time in church to think and pray. That prayer has become overly programmed.” Prayer stations allow people to take on a more active role in worship and learn interactive ways to pray and reflect on God. Come to our November 9th meeting and learn about new ways to pray that can be used in worship and in our daily lives. The meeting time is from 3 to 6:30 PM. Many thanks to Debbie Hallmark, our program facilitator, for her work in making this Poway meeting possible.
The August 23rd Palomar Cedars summer event went well with over 30 attending. This was an event to see what tasks need completion to make the grounds more thoroughly useable. There will be a follow-up meeting at UCCLM Sept. 21st at 3:00 PM to further discuss and schedule the work that needs completion.
Rev. Steve Meineke an Assoc. Executive Comm. Member at Large and therapist has designed a questionnaire in consultation with his daughter, Summer, who is a psychologist. The survey seeks input on changes that could occur to increase participation in our association meetings. The survey is taken on line and has been sent to those on Rev. Sandra Nunnally’s association e-mail address book. Sandra is the Southern Association Registrar. The survey is free to our association and those participating. Approximately 40 have taken the survey so far. If you haven’t taken the survey, please do so. I attended Loletta Barrett’s Ordination September 7th at Irvine UCC. I’ll attend the Church and Ministry training at Pilgrim Pines on Sept. 19th and 20th and the Rev. “Bear” Hill’s Ordination at 1st Congregational Church, Escondido on October 19th at 3:00 PM
